Week 3: 2/28/2018

Today we created the full list of materials and prices that we needed. We added a few things that we forgot on the original list. We looked over solidworks to polish it out. This will probably be done by next week and the building of the catapult and Trebuchet will begin soon. The group has made a plan to go to home depot to buy the materials on Sunday.  Source: https://www.dailydot.com/wp-content/uploads/f94/e2/79c8d63466fa3e050eabce1845f6e02d.jpg Source: https://www.dailydot.com/wp-content/uploads/f94/e2/79c8d63466fa3e050eabce1845f6e02d.jpg

Week 3: 2/26/18

Yesterday we finished our rough design for the Catapult and Trebuchet. We think that the Catapult will be more difficult to build and make it well functioning due to the winding mechanism. The Trebuchet is mainly functioned through weight distribution, so it is simpler to build. The building will start soon once we buy the materials and fully plan out our building process. https://www.google.com/search?q=Catapult&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj66_jYnMnZAhUBzVMKHSp-B9IQ_AUICigB&biw=1053&bih=853&surl=1&safe=active&ssui=on#imgrc=03KzG_t2Tj_UIM: https://www.google.com/search?q=Trebuchet&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj0yOGvnMnZAhWOzlMKHYLhCFwQ_AUICigB&biw=1053&bih=853&surl=1&safe=active&ssui=on#imgrc=5rmHsfvLUX3KvM:

Week 2: 2/22/2018

Today we did further research on the parts that we need for our Catapult and Trebuchet. These include the lengths and places we are going to purchase the parts from. The Solidworks rough draft was completed but needs to be dimensioned and redesigned to better fit our final creation.

Blog Week 2: 2/20/2018

Today was the day that we started Solid works. Our first task was to gather the parts that we need to assemble the Trebuchet and Catapult. Most of the parts were taken from Grabcad, created in solid works, and stripped from other solid works assemblies. This took up most of the time because it was difficult to find the parts. Due to this, we only created the base for both the Trebuchet and the Catapult. https://grabcad.com/library/catapult-21

2/15/2018 Today we continued working on our task to find materials and parts for our catapult and trebuchet constructions. Our main supplier will be home depot and spare parts. We hope to purchase the wood at Home Depot and get the two axles needed from Mr Martin. The blog is coming around and will hopefully be fully completed and functional. We will begin solid works on Monday. We do not know the full cost of all of the items that we will need but this will come in the future.

Blog Week 1: 2/13/2018 As our first blog this will be an explanation of our project. Our main focus is to compare the Trebuchet and Catapult to see which one will launch an object the furthest. This should be a difficult but enjoyable experience for the group. Hopefully it goes smoothly and we can succeed throughout these 12 weeks. Proposal: The project that we will be completing will include creating a Catapult and a Trebuchet. They will have a pivot point under 4 ft tall and the base will be 3 ft by 4 ft. The reason we are doing this project is to find whether the Catapult or Trebuchet will launch an object the furthest distance. Timeline: Week 1: Research Previous Catapults/Trebuchets and parts Design the Structures on Solidworks Week 2: Gather Materials to construct the structures Continue design on Solidworks Week 3: Constructing the Catapult Week 4:  Constructing the Trebuchet Week 5: Troubleshooting and Improvements Week 6: Troubles
